The Edge of Wild Farm X Sun Drawn- Natural Dye Workshop
Marigold, coreopsis, calendula, and cosmos are nature’s magic. These are just a few of the botanical beauties that bring natural dyer and artist, Marla Tolz of Sun Drawn, and flower farmer, Luloo Flynn of The Edge of Wild Farm, together to harness this flower magic, and create beauty with natural dyeing.
THE WORKSHOP:
We will meet in the morning at The Edge of Wild Farm located at the West Taghkanic Diner, and together have tea and coffee while Marla and Luloo share their stories and teach folks about their process. We will harvest both farm flowers and forage, and after, Marla will guide everyone in creating their own dreamy, naturally dyed silk scarf that they will absolutely cherish forever. All the while a delicious, seasonally sourced and prepared meal will be served by WTDiner. Our hope is that you leave feeling nourished by nature, the community, your creativity, and the delicious meal that we’ve shared together.
THE DETAILS:
Saturday, August 12th 10AM-1PM
The Edge of Wild Farm located at the West Taghkanic Diner 1016 NY-82 Ancram, NY. Park your car in the lot, and we will greet you in the garden.
All supplies, lunch, coffee, tea, and water are provided. You will take home your very own naturally dyed scarf!
SOME NOTES:
We will be sharing lots of information and knowledge, as well as using flower shears and working with other tools, so we kindly ask that all attendees be at least 15 years old.
Because there is much work that goes into planning a specific event like this, as well as the cost and prep of the supplies and meal, we will not be able to offer refunds. Please consider gifting your ticket in the event you cannot attend, and thank you for understanding.
We will provide the necessary tools for this workshop, but we do ask that you wear any important garments that will protect you from the sun, plant sap, and insects. As we all know living in the Northeast, tick and their diseases are an epidemic, so please protect yourself. If you tend to be sensitive to plant sap wear garden gloves, long sleeves, and pants. Do bring sunscreen and hats. We will provide some shade, but will be spending much of our time togther in the sun.
We are planning for rain or shine, though if we are due to have severe weather on 8/12, the rain date will be the following day, Sunday 8/13.
We will be providing a family style meal, so upon check out, please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.
WTD has so many delicious beverages and cocktails for you to try! Tea and coffee is included in the ticket price, but other beverages are not. Don’t let this stop you! The Bloody Mary Ann is our particular fave (mezcal and smokey tomato juice). Of course you must be 21+ to enjoy.
